Art and Design Technology

Through Art and Design and Technology lessons, we are developing our young children's skills and knowedge in design; structures; mechanisms; electrical control; a range of materials, including food as well as helping them to observe the world around them more closely and express that learning through different medium.

Both subjects play an important role in connecting the whole curriculum together. According to tate.org.uk, ‘Schools that integrate arts into their curriculum show improved student performance in maths, English, critical thinking and verbal skills’. Design and Technology also helps children in Maths, English and in other subjects across the curriculum in a fun and inspiring way, putting these subjects into context and making them easier to understand.
