Parent Communication
At Edith Moorhouse, we like to keep our families up to date with all that goes on in school. There are multiple ways we may communicate information, from face-to-face conversations, parent pay messages, phonecalls, and our fortnightly newsletter, just to name a few.
We also use Class Dojo to keep you up to date with what is going on in the classroom. Staff will share stories from the classroom, whole school updates and reminder information on this platform.
If you need to contact a member of staff, please contact the school via the school office for Year 1 to Year 6, and your message will be passed on for them to get back to you. Pre-school and Reception can be contacted using the message service on Class Dojo.

Preparing for Reception: School Readiness Advice for Families
As we look forward to welcoming our new cohort in September 2026, we want to ensure every child feels confident, excited, and ready to start their primary school journey.
The Department for Education (DfE) has recently published updated guidance specifically designed to support families through this transition. Starting school is a significant milestone, and "school readiness" isn't just about academic skills—it's about the practical and emotional steps that help children settle happily into a school environment.
ð¡ Helping Your Child Get Ready
The new DfE resources provide practical, everyday tips for parents and carers to help children develop independence. Key areas include:
-
Practical Skills: Encouraging children to dress themselves, use the toilet independently, and tidy up toys.
-
Communication: Building confidence in expressing needs and listening to instructions.
-
Social & Emotional Readying: Managing the excitement (and occasional nerves) of a new routine.

We look forward to seeing those smiles at the school gates this September!

Welcome to our School Transition Hub
At Edith Moorhouse Primary School, we understand that moving to a new class or starting school for the first time is a significant milestone for both our pupils and their families. To support this journey, each Key Stage team has produced a comprehensive transition booklet designed to help children 'Reach for the Stars' by preparing them for their exciting new chapters with confidence, aspiration, and resilience. Reflecting our commitment to the River Learning Trust principle of 'Respectful Relationships', these resources provide clear, reassuring guidance tailored to each age group, ensuring a smooth and happy transition.
